Regarding battery power for 3G CDMA, GPRS and EDGE:

Just FYI - All of these technologies require more power at higher bit rates. CDMA is more efficient for a variety of reasons, and thus should require substantially less, but still it is no surprise that a standard battery on a standard cell phone doesn't last too long when trying to send out 100's of kbps. But since I don't really needing continuous high rates to my handset (separate from my notebook PC) I don't really view this as a problem. The bigger problem for GPRS and EDGE is that their rates are not all that was promised.
