Hi Rose, At this time I don't feel your concern about Air Conditioning in the South is critical. The powers that be have been making great progress in this regard and the last report I had was that most 1 horse power fans would be replaced with some sort of water and fan type of deal that could be expected to lower temps somewhere from 10 to 13 degrees. Since the Civil War, we have had extreme difficulty in receiving certain amenities enjoyed by the victors and so it is difficult to adjudicate exactly when we might receive the first edition of the Carrier 23,000 BTU Mobile Home Unit that have been discarded by many up North but I have been assured by Rob Johnson that Gold Creek's Units ( although having only an Off/On switch ) should provide all the coolness you require. Now you might have to get up and turn it on and off about thirty times a night but what the hell can one expect from such a backward area of the world and gee, it beats the devil out of that Water/Fan unit we have had to put up with. Water was one of the largest expenses at the 96 Olympics, you know, trying to cool all those visitors with those big Water/Fan contraptions. Just before the closing ceremonies the city of Atlanta received about 30 J.C. Higgins model 666 15,000 BTU window units that were mistakenly placed in the windows of the rooms housing the athletes from Kenya. We don't have any data on the results because they never turned them on being conditioned to temps reaching 120 degrees in they home land. Like I said, great strides are being made and the latest news is that a few units called CENTRAL have been received by a few of the upper class in the border states such as KY, Va, and the Northern areas of the Carolinas. Hang with us and we will do our best to make you comfortable. Personally I have two huge fans over my bedding areas in my home that are continuously operated or pulled by the Slaves that agreed to stay in my family following that terrible war so the worst that could happen is you could stay with me.
