Morning Pat:
I believe the true vision of Dell entails the the challenge of opening new facilities in exotic countries like China and Brazil.
chinavista.com
In order to get right to work in China, Dell took advantage of the free trade zone in Ziamen with all the
advantages set forth in the URL.
I believe the first plant in Xiamen had around 300 employees, and the second plant also 300 (pure guesswork)
So to quadruple would require around 2400 and we are getting in range of the 3500 now at Nashville.
But Xiamen is very small, does not have the sq miles to
work with like Nashville does.
So the output of the Xiamen will approach $2.4 bil/yr
when expanded. That would be very big for Xiamen !
They may have to dredge the ocean, add to the island, to
accomodate more Dell plants.
Its the "DELL effect" at work all over again. I hope they like jobs, secure income, and progress over in China because thats what they will be getting.
