Persistence Software Forms Strategic Partnership with Creative Century Information Technology

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 2000--

CCIT To Establish Encryption and E-commerce Standard in China

Based On PowerTier Web Application Server

Persistence Software (Nasdaq: PRSW), The Engine for E-Commerce(TM), today announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Creative Century Information Technology (CCIT), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Ministry of Information Industries. CCIT is responsible for developing encryption and certification standards for the Internet and e-business in China.

"This is an alliance of major significance for the development of e-commerce in China," commented Christopher Keene, CEO and Co-founder of Persistence Software. "We are proud of the part we can play in this by providing application server engine for this project, which can establish a new standard throughout China."

"In developing this new standard for China, we considered very carefully who to select as our server software partner," said Liu Xin Yue, General Manager, CCIT. "PowerTier from Persistence was selected because of the speed of development that it allowed. The scalability, robustness and price/performance of PowerTier are important as we begin to market our Chinese encryption and certification solution to PTAs (Post and Telecommunication Administrations) and other customers around the country."

Persistence software supplies transactional application servers used for high-traffic Internet software infrastructure and high performance e-commerce applications. Its products allow enterprises to build open scalable e-commerce applications offering richer business interactions, greater reliability, more user responsiveness, and better investment protection - all within a much shorter development time.

In the past year, Persistence Software has opened it Asia Pacific regional office in the Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) and a representative office in Shanghai. "In coming months we will be announcing a number of new agreements covering vertical marketing to specific sectors, establishing training centres throughout China, and strategic alliances with partners who can add China-specific value to our offerings," said Steven Lau, managing director of Persistence Software's Asia Pacific operation.
