Fonix FAAST(TM) TTS SDK Integrates Both Unlimited and Custom Vocabulary Text-to-Speech Engines for Internet and Telephony Applications

<<<SALT LAKE CITY, May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Fonix Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: FONX) announced today the commercial release of its FAAST Text-To-Speech (TTS) Software Development Kit (SDK), which is designed to allow developers to rapidly integrate its natural-sounding TTS systems into voice portals, call centers, and other Internet and telephony applications.

The Fonix FAAST TTS SDK enables the seamless integration of human quality unlimited-vocabulary TTS and customized-vocabulary TTS, both of which are indistinguishable from natural, continuous human speech.

Beta partners and current customers are using Fonix TTS for integration into unified messaging services, email readers, HTML web readers, English education software, auto attendants, stock quotes systems, web-based college education courses, short messaging services, voice portals, IVR systems and other applications.

The FAAST TTS SDK is currently available for Microsoft Windows 95/98, NT, and Windows 2000 operating systems and will be available on Linux, AIX and Solaris Sparc during the third quarter 2000. The FAAST TTS SDK features a high-level TTS API set that allows customers to easily incorporate text-to-speech into their products. The FAAST API supports C++ and Java and is SAPI 4.0 compliant.

"Fonix has developed a versatile TTS development system which can rapidly gain market share by allowing developers to utilize the most appropriate natural sounding TTS for their specific application," said Thomas A. Murdock, President and CEO of Fonix Corporation.
