Off the subject, it seems that RAMBUS will be an IPO in July 1997. This company has a propietary super future memory which is being used by Cirrus Logic and being pushed by Intel.

I don't know what else RAMBUS is doing, but unless they've got something new up their sleeve, my bet is that they are headed for trouble. The reason I believe this is that the JEDEC (don't remember what the acronym stands for, but they are the consortium of all major RAM manufacturers, they specify the technical standards for commodity memory devices, from things like timing to the number of pins on a simm) has come up with their own version of the rambus memory device, JEDEC calls it "Sync-Link." My bet is that once sync-link becomes a commodity, like sdram is currently, Intel will drop (or at least not require) rambus in their new designs.
