Pat - As I recall, when KK was on CNBC he held out the problems at the Netherlands plant as a prime example of the types of difficulties the optical manufacturing industry faces for some important components (the kitchen table being state-of-the-art). If I'm not mistaken KK commented that the Netherlands situation was improving but they were building a new facility there?????

If KK felt that this was a unique JDSU problem I don't think he would have been anxious to broadcast this information to competitors and customers. There was a post 2-3 months ago on TMF's Fiberhead board that pretty much confirmed what KK was saying.

I think this also helps explain why it seems KK chose to risk his health to make acquisitions and to ramp up production for JDSU. As a practical matter, I think while the industry remains "capacity constrained" customers deserting manufacturers that they have been working with for months/years is probably not going to be a common occurrence.

Thanks for all your terrific posts. - peggylynn
