hi mag,

while on the topic of norton utilities... i didn't see that you've run either windoctor or system check. have you done that?

and i did not see that you've tried speed disk (for defragging). it could be that our terminology is different for the same component.

for starters, make sure you're running the doctors i've noted above.

then i'd take a look at win98 system file checker. clickstream start|programs|accessories|system tools|system info|tools|system file checker (also then try registry checker on same tools menu).

maybe this will give us some clues or provide a repair.
