Dave ; I buy stocks in the IRA but I almost always sell covered calls, with the market being like it is I look for good premiums and sell mostly in the money.
Sometimes I risk a little more and sell at or even
out of the money calls, I don't hold to one style all the
time. MO is a special case for me and the only one
I have with the dividend as the primary objective.
I can do protective puts in my IRA , so once I'm in a
stock I can and sometimes trade options on it both ways.
"just in the money both ways" Legging in is a must.
