Company Press Release
Sequoia Software Partners with ChemIndustry.com to Provide Industry-Specific Information to Portal Customers
Sequoia to Offer ChemIndustry.com's Extensive Information Search Service for Chemical Industry Professionals Directly through its XML Portal Server(TM)
COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2000-- Sequoia Software Corporation (Nasdaq: SQSW - news), a leading provider of XML-powered interactive e-business portals, today announced a partnership with ChemIndustry.com to provide Sequoia XML Portal Server(TM) (XPS) customers with chemical industry-specific content through their users' XPS homepages. The partnership helps Sequoia fulfill the external information requirements of customers in the manufacturing sector, one of Sequoia's five core markets for XPS.

``We created ChemIndustry.com to provide chemical and allied industry professionals with efficient, targeted search and information services,'' said Daniel Fishman, CEO of ChemIndustry.com. ``Partnering with Sequoia gives us a clear channel to a growing constituency of XPS users who need our content to make quick, informed decisions that help them be more productive and effective.''

ChemIndustry.com is a comprehensive category search engine for chemical and allied industry professionals, providing them with an efficient tool for locating the information, products and services they need via the World Wide Web. Sequoia's XML Portal Server gives users a single point of personalized access to ChemIndustry.com's vast database of chemical industry information, as well as content aggregated from an organization's disparate internal systems, its partners and the Web.

Rather than having to go to an outside source to track down appropriate information, Sequoia's customers from the manufacturing sector will save time and increase productivity by providing their employees with the ability to search and retrieve industry-specific information directly through their interactive portal. People using XPS will access ChemIndustry.com through a ``content delivery agent'' (CDA) that snaps into their personalized portal homepage. Sequoia customers can download CDAs on demand from Sequoia's customer extranet.

``Customers select XPS because it removes the information and process bottlenecks that limit their ability to build productivity, relationships and revenues,'' said Mark Wesker, president and COO, Sequoia Software. ``Delivering ChemIndustry.com through XPS gives our customers in the manufacturing sector access to information they need to be successful. We are very pleased to add ChemIndustry.com to our growing list of content partners.''
