Actually, I pronounced on this particular argument originally merely because I thought that JLA was getting too much blame, and later got further dragged in, after occupying myself elsewhere. You and I, with Steven and Lather, carried most of the discussion on this thread in the last couple of weeks, and it was mainly substantive, which I prefer. Yes, it is true that I do not like discussing things with you much, except, at least, on the rare occasions when things are somewhat amicable. But I am motivated to engage with whomever offers the best opportunity to raise important issues, whether or not I like her, as long as she will make some effort to hold up her end. I do not like fighting per se, I am not trying to score points or perform experiments with my interlocutors, or use the thread as a scratching post for my claws, or amuse myself particularly. I do like more casual, friendly conversation on occasion. Otherwise, even with an interlocutor I find less than desirable, I derive satisfaction out of my end of the conversation...... |
