A couple of months ago I red an article about the Brasilian Cellural/Mobile Market.

Among other issues this articel referred to the forthcoming decision of the "Brazilian National Telecommunication Agency" or ANATEL on the country's new C-band contract.

As always the competing standards were GSM and CDMA. ANATEL's decision was to be announced by the end of last April (April 2000).

Anatel's President, Renato Guerreiro, said that the selection would be based on the needs of the Brasilian people. "We will be taking into consideration the quality of service, the number of jobs created, as well as society's needs", he concluded.

My opinion is that GSM serves the current needs of the Brasilian people very well.

As far as I know Anatel has not released its decision (GSM or CDMA) yet, at least I have not found anything on this issue and I was wondering if any poster knows something about this.

Another question is about the standard which is currently in use in Braasil. Is it GSM or CDMA? and What about Nokia, Is Nokia in the Brasilian Market?? Is Nokia an important player there?

I hope somebody would have an answer for me.

Thanks.
