UTSI falls 48% on PRC announcement it will halt deployment of equipment. UTStarcom Says China Halts Equipment Deployment; Shares Fall By Ken Mandel Alameda, California, June 1 (Bloomberg) -- UTStarcom Inc. (UTSI) fell 16 9/16, or 43 percent, to 21 11/16 and traded as low as 20 1/2. The communications-equipment maker said that China has asked for a halt in the deployment of telecommunications equipment, which affects the company's PAS wireless-access system. The company expects the halt to last 60 days.
