To All: Here on the Flame thread we do have a social awareness.
I know I have had a number of PM's from concerned Flame threaders talking about the latest item in the news Elian Gonzalez. Here is a sample of some of the statements of concern: "Think they are going to send that Cuban brat back?"[Kasha], "Why does anyone want him?" [Sherry], "I would pay to send him back so I didn't have to listen to any more crap about him." [Solon], "Think there is an angle we can make any money out of this, you know a Elian charity or something?" [Lee], and "If his relatives want to be with him so damned much send them back to Cuba too." [My own humble offering].
This display of social conscience is not rare here. I remember when we addressed starvation in the world. [In the end we adopted BamaReb's suggestion and sent a petition suggesting if they would just divert the pipeline of food supplying Sally Strothers to the hungry they could take care of it.]
Or the petition we sent condemning Monica Lewinsky for poor hygiene in not washing her damned dress. [Kasha, Solon, and Nite-Man also wanted her phone number but they haven't gotten back to us yet on that.]
Yep, there are a lot of tender hearts around here. They are just hidden a bit under crusty exteriors and swollen livers.
