Is this our friend Piecyk running out of control again? Now he's contending that Unicom's choice of GSM is actually positive for Qualcomm, because it means early implementation of W-CDMA. Of course a choice of IS-95 would have been positive, because it would have meant second generation CDMA sales.

So actually we live in the best of all possible worlds; *either* choice is a surprise positive for Qualcomm!! It's not like Walter would be having flop sweat by now, right?

Unicom is currently alleviating its spectrum problem by implementing GSM-1800 in addition to existing GSM-900 gear. Has this fact really escaped Paine Webber? It's the GSM-1800 expansion that Unicom has been signalling for months.
