Piedmont Natural Gas Upgrades MDSI Advantex Installation To Improve Wireless Workforce Management Advantages
RICHMOND, British Columbia, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: MDSI - news; Toronto: MMD - news) has signed a contract with Piedmont Natural Gas (NYSE: PNY - news) to upgrade MDSI's Advantex(TM) wireless workforce management software solution.

``MDSI© has been offering wireless workforce management solutions to North American utilities for more than 7 years-longer than any other company we know,'' said Rob Cruickshank, MDSI's Chief Operating Officer. ``As a result, many of our customers who implemented earlier generations of Advantex are now finding it advantageous to upgrade to more recent versions. We are working closely with each customer to determine the best upgrade path to r7, our recently released, next-generation software platform. With some early customers like Piedmont, a preliminary step before a full r7 upgrade will work best for their operations, while for others moving directly to r7 makes the most sense. With utility industry deregulation continuing at full pace, and the significant enhancements we have made and continue to make to our product, we expect customers will want to move fairly quickly down the upgrade path.''
