Well you know the problem with diamonds? It's a rigged market - and they can be made by man. Oil is too silly to contemplate. But I agree that a whole generation of people is around who have no memory of gold as an alternative - no memory of gold stocks being part of every prudently managed investment portfolio. No memory of gold stocks almost automatically going up when the Dow fell.
