Politics presents temptations, and some people succumb, whether the federal government is involved, or it is merely a municipality. I do not think that is the thing to focus on. What we should have in mind are the Founders and their aspirations, the dignity of the Capitol and the way the arts and sciences are given pride of place on the Mall. To focus on such defects is like obsessing over slavery when thinking about the Constitution, and the way the issue was left to fester.........
