LYNX...this is taken from the LYNX yhoo board which seems to have a lot of industry people
Another hot tip from j27r pans out. I noted in the press release accompanying Nature NB paper:
(Russell) said that the Company, ``in addition to pursuing applications for it technologies in selected Pharma and AgBio collaborations, is now in discussions with others interested in working with Lynx to rapidly construct complete expression databases that could be made broadly available to researchers by subscription.''
Another apparent gesture towards the analysts, as databases are a source of short term revenues and companies that offer them like CRA, INCY, GLGC, etc. are trading at higher valuations and receiving attention from analysts like Merrill Lynch.
OT:
Odd interview with Craig Venter in recent US News. Regarding CRA revenue sources, he?s bearish on drug development (?biotech roulette?) and gene patents (dicey legal game). That leaves SNPs (as the ?Microsoft of genomics? the article suggests they will offer a personalized diagnostics service) and databases (currently 5M/subscription). If I read the article correctly, only 5 companies have signed up. To justify their market cap, you?d think they?d need more than a thousand.
