Magnatizer,

Re: windows crashing,

1) Make sure you have the latest updates from Microsoft web site for your operating system- Virtual machine, active x, ect, also latest vido drivers from vid card manufacture. Microsoft allows several file updates at same time but I would do it in several downloads and reboot every time.

2) You say you collect data 24/7 so i assume you have trading software running 24/7. Lots of trading software programs have problems with anti-virus scaning software. It is not enough to disable this software sometimes but it should be uninstalled- do not have anti-virus software on same machine as trading software- can caus crashes- some trading software updates/rewrites to hard disk in the early A.M.

3) Update modem drivers.

4) Have you downloaded any new software in the previous 2 weeks- if so it could be causing conflicts- uninstall.

5) You say the vido screen is fuzzy after cpu auto reboots- may indicate a vido driver problem. If after updating vid drivers and still happens you could uninstall vid drivers and vid cards and go to standard vidio mode and reinstall cards and drivers- you do this from the controll panel. Another solution could be or uninstall vidio driver and cards and then phiscally pull the vid card out and reinstall. If you use multi monitors vid cards and drivers could cause crashes.

6) Check system configuration utility program and disable uncessary programs at startup- I have only three programs running after bootup, Explorer, systray, and starter.

7 ) Disable all power saver programs- window 98 has a sleep mode for hard disk and monitors,- disable- not compatable with 24/7 data collection- done in control panel.

Hope this helps,
