CIC Partner RDM launches e-payment service in N.A. with CIC security newswire.ca (from CIC's site) Research Development and Manufacturing Corporation licensed Certicom's Elliptic Curve Cryptography in April 1997 to secure their electronic commerce products. Certicom's technology will provide strong, fast digital signatures and key agreement for user authentication and data integrity for RDM's applications. One of RDM's electronic commerce initiatives, in cooperation with other leading technology suppliers and several major U.S. banks, is to develop key software components for the Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC) Electronic Check project. The FSTC is aimed at creating an enhanced electronic replacement for paper checks. Electronic check writing and processing will be integrated into existing applications, such as cash registers to personal checkbook managers to large corporate accounting systems. This initiative will greatly increase the convenience and reduce the costs of writing, accepting, and processing checks. Rondo
