CREWS MOBILIZING - WORK TO COMMENCE IN ALASKA

Western Keltic Mines Inc. and Rimfire Minerals Corporation are pleased to announce that exploration crews will be mobilized to the Goodpaster Gold Project, located east of the Pogo property (10.6 Mt grading 0.53 oz/t gold) in east central Alaska during the week of June 5. The two-phase $500,000 program has been funded through a financing and option agreement with Barrick Gold Corporation. The program is designed to follow-up favourable results obtained in 1999.

The 1999 exploration program was successful in confirming the presence of Pogo style mineralization on the properties. In addition, rock sampling yielded high-grade gold values (up to 0.75 oz/ton) and together with large, open-ended gold and pathfinder element soil geochemical anomalies suggest the presence of a potentially large mineralizing system. Large areas of the 70 square mile property are still to be explored.

The 2000 exploration program will be carried out in two phases. The Phase one program is designed to increase the density of sampling in both the Boundary and Southeast Surf areas to better-define existing anomalies and optimization of drill hole locations. This will be accomplished by detailed mapping, in-fill soil sampling and grid-based ground magnetic and VLF surveys on the Boundary and Southeast Surf anomalies. The Phase two program will consist of a diamond drilling program at the Boundary anomaly. Phase two will commence once the results from Phase one are received and compiled.
