I am not personally in favor of trying to contact other life forms. Considering how we "manage" lower life forms I am not sure why we (as humans) want to contact higher life forms- or even other life forms on a par with ourselves. Why would you want to contact Extra-Terrestrials when you have no idea what they are like? Basically we're hanging a sign on our planet that says "Eat Me". Literally.
