X, Why on Earth (or the Universe I guess) would another civilization go through all that trouble to travel vast distances, at great expense in time and manpower, just to eat us? Any civilization just 100 years more technically advanced than us should have the ability to already know that we are here.

They coulda ate us when we only had clubs to defend ourselves.
