Well "they" say funerals are for the living not for the dead. The Project would be undertaken to help us shape our thoughts and feelings about grander issues, maybe even be something of a tonic for narcissism, etc.

As far as who might eat whom, so far we are the only cannbalistic "intelligent" species we know of.
