Those leaps are creating their own gravity. You'll excuse me for filing this particular defense of MS in the 'goofy' file, rudedog. Embraced and extended network standards by the predatory monopolist are slightly differernt than Compaq liberating the PC spec. --- Certainly this industry has a rich history of Dan (DB) Coopers leaping from airplanes with bags of money. Robbers and robber barons are two different things. --- The Java history (the real history) is that Sun needed to hold Java so close to it's vest to keep the predatory monopolist from being able to kill it. Tell me that you would have navigated Java differently around the likes of MS. Tell me you would have been more open with it. --- Open: O-P=E-N open - yesss (from Sesame St) - I opted out of Windows computing and the waste of my time it was to learn the ever changing environment just so MS could stay freshly proprietary. I use 'open'. Open is the opposite of MS. In the year or two I've used 'open' I've learned more, become more productive, I actually feel enriched. This contrasts to the empty calorie focus group nonsense of feeling useful which is the Windows Experience (TM). 'Open' is not a word you find on the MS web site. --- Sun is the antithesis of MS. Sun champions open standards. You know, the network which is the computer. The one that keeps eating your Leaps. -JCJ
