Russian Gokhran won't export PGMs this year-agency

MOSCOW, May 31 (Reuters) - Russian state precious metals and gems reserve Gokhran will not export any platinum group metals, inlcuding platinum, palladium and rhodium, this year, Interfax news agency quoted Gokhran's deputy head as saying on Wednesday.

But Gokhran's head, Valery Rudakov, told Reuters in an interview in March that its stocks of these metals, especially palladium, were in any case too small to influence the market.

``Gokhran has practically no palladium left,'' he said at the time.

The other bodies in Russia which produce or own platinum group metals are Norilsk Nickel and the central bank. But as all information on the metals is a state secret, both are extremely reluctant to offer any news on sales policy.

Russia produces some two thirds of global palladium and 20 percent of platinum, and markets have moved wildly this year on news -- or the lack of it -- of its export policy.
