Tell ya why I like these pictures.
I tend to try to look at technology from the user point of view as regards end result benefits. These pictures help me visualize how I might use 3G technology.

In handsets, the substance favors Nokia (theoretically at least). They have a ways to go, I admit, in the large and growing market for CDMA, but in at least the DS mode of operation, they will master the game.
Of course (putting my user hat back on) it won't be long before I can enjoy 144 kbps mobile data services, and it is unlikely that my mobile for that use will be Nokia, from a practical point of view. But ... that could change.
For the moment, Nokia appears to have their plate full getting to data rates close to 56 kbps with GPRS, while also developing to UMTS and more or less concurrently getting to some acceptable data rates there.
