BS - Sun's entire product line (software AND hardware) is setup or in the process of being setup for dirivative works. It's actually a key component of the Sun business model. --- You know what I think? I think you're looking at a different Sun than I am. Perhaps from a different time. --- With regard to Java, you're missing some *major points. First of all, just to get it out of the way, Microsoft has been found guilty in Federal court of harming Sun and attempting to subvert Java. That brings us to the issue of sterwardship. In order to bring this disruptive cross platform technology this far has required every bit of Sun's stewardship. It's not quite honest to use Sun's holding Java close as evidence against it's want of openess. --- Currently licensees can change whatever they want with Java and share it amoungst themselves. --- I'll tell you what, rudedog. If Sun still holds Java as closely after M$ is remedied, I'll change my sentment altogether. --- Java is just now busting out of the cacoon. It *is though in fact, busting out of the cacoon (BTW, HotSpot just beat M$ Visual C in a speed bakeoff on Ace's Hardware). Obviously Sun has done SOMETHING right, yes? -JCJ
