while on the norton web services liveupdate subject...

while i completely agree that upgrading can be hazardous to your pc's health ( #reply-13814333 ), i must quickly add that i have used nws maybe half a dozen times, and never have i encountered a problem. most recently i downloaded new modem drivers and it went smooth as can be. believe me, i had questions about doing so when the current ones seemed to be okay. but i plan to do some registry tweaks for modem performance and it makes sense to me to have current drivers. interestingly, i am not availing myself of every windows patch and update i come across.

the question of 'why upgrade if everything is fine' is an old one, probably dating back to applications prior to computers. i doubt that there is a clearly defined right or wrong answer. i think that the industry is moving us all in that direction, however, whether we like it or not. and i can see where failing to upgrade can and will cause problems with your system, or at the very least, severely impede your computing experience.
