I think it is difficult to have a firm strategy in this market and particularly in this stock right now, and probably through the end of the year. Due to the volatility we've all been going through, I adopted more of a hit & run strategy with many plays - basically buy the dips and have my finger on the trigger short term. However, FFIV has other things to consider, mainly being an acquisition target - would anyone be surprised to see a bid before the end of the year? Wouldn't want to miss that! My average price is just under 34, which I believe to be a level with not much downside risk. Now, I've stared at it at about 43 a couple weeks ago, and wish I had taken it at the time because I coulda bought back in at 30. But if we see a sustained increase in volume, F5 should surge higher. Bottom line is: I'm watching it everyday, if it peaks too fast in the short term, say between 50-60, I'll sell it expecting to buy back in. At the same time, I wouldn't mind holding it long term, and then I would want something around 100.
