The details about Sun's new storage subsystem are very sketchy: sun.com I appears that the StorEdge product is a prepackaged system composed of a Sun server, OS, and storage. If that is the case, then this product may appeal to Sun's most loyal customers, but is no threat to NTAP. Without new file system innovations, this is not a new product--just a new package of existing products. We need more detail before we can make an objective evaluation. There may be some new innovations in StorEdge, but Sun is not talking about them yet.
