QCOM.

I have also heard rumors about a buyout of the
QCOM ASIC division by Nokia and it probably is just a rumour
however let's think about it for a minute.

Some people say Nokia may "loose face" with such a move.
Nokia is a Finnish company not a Japanese one,
they will do what is best for the company.
Now, I agree that competitors may not want to
buy the chipset from Nokia however I believe that
Qualcomm should not care about this. Nokia produces
more cell phones (GSM and TDMA) then all of the
CDMA cellphone manufacturers combined. If Qualcomm
could get their technology into Nokia's phones and take advantage of their production capability and collect
royalties as Nokias production explodes, AND at the same time collect royalties from all other cell-phone maufacturers who produce their own CDMA, CDMA2000 1x/3x, WCDMA chip solutions Qualcomm would do well.
It would also allow Qualcomm to forget about the headaches of volume production etc. and move on to the next innovation that they could charge royalties for.

Anyhow it is just my opinion.

ed.
