In this case, Java is purely used as a development language, none of the essence of Java is included. Bill Joy will certainly be ashamed of this.

What I thought you were saying above is that the VMFoundry approach would disable things link dynamic binding of pre-compiled code, and other features such as most of pre-defined libraries that make up the Java programming environment. My comment was that even without everything that makes Java useful on commercial OS with a windowing environment, that Java as only a development language in a dedicated embedded application still has many desirable attributes over C/C++, if the app. isn't too time critical.
