>>IBM has problems in a segment of their business, but INTC >>has problems, like delivering not what it promised in itïs >>core business. >They are delivering tons of PIIIs and Celerons. They're not >core? Where are the promised volume shipments of parts >800 Mhz, read all sources in the news distributors etc. INTC claimed this problem would be fixed in the second quarter. I canït find the chips and as a read many other cant find them too. Perhaps INTC is hiding them like gold for 2-4 years, perhaps the price is better then :)
>The PPRO was not a success, > > It got Intel into the server business, which is >growing faster percentage wise than the desktop. Is this a success, i believe not.
>Rambus? The jury is still out on it, IMO RMBS may become a success, but today RMBS is a economical desaster for INTC and the timing of INTC to introduce RMBS wasnït good. first: 3-Rimms -> 2 Rimms second: MTH problem
this 2 problems shout RMBS is not as easy to integrate as good old DRAM or DDRAM, because of higher frequencies, heat issues and stricter design requirements.
Perhaps sometimes RMBS is the memory of choice, but today it definitly not yet the memory of choice for most buyers, because price/performance arenït good enough.
Perhaps DDRAM pushes this price/performance parity of RMBS a few more years in the future.
