Black and white answers are the foundation upon which sound-bite news rests.

I agree. It's too bad the public's short attention span and TV's need for pizzaz are contributing to this problem.

Traditional news sources give practically the same perspective on issues such as these. The lazy paraphrasing is mindless diatribe to me.

Definitely do not agree on this. I can't believe you can't tell the difference between thoughtful representation, even biased, thoughtful representation, and diatribe--between articles like those I found at your Ether Zone or those in the mainstream press, and a muddleheaded piece of crap like this article you posted to Dorine.

There is legitimate writing with both a left and right bias, and then there is junk. Most of the junk we see posted here comes from the right, but the left has it's share, too. If you can't tell the difference between the Times or the Post and "mindless diatribe," I will find and post some equally stupid and illogical leftist diatribes. I think I have an especially good example in a file folder in my office, clipped from a local weekly rag.

Just because it has a right slant doesn't make it credible any more than having a a neutral or left slant makes it diatribe.
