The Metro aspect started with the press release you linked in initially, about the versalight family. From there I perused their website. Most of the press releases I find are related to funding and management appointments, rather than product info, but I don't find anything since that '97 article that reiterates the "multiwavelength to the home" hints they dropped back then. It's not necessarily a sound conclusion, I admit; but it does make some marketing sense. That's why I started it with "it looks as though.." because I'm not positively certain; I'm hoping someone can add some details.
