Hi all; Re speculation on the thread that Hyundai would break ranks with the other memory makers and take the Intel RDRAM bait. For example:
May 26, 2000 Given the interconnection of financing for these large industrial groups in Korea, I would think this would provide even further impetus for Hyundai accepting the Intel offer of cash. #reply-13781717 James Fulop
May 26, 2000 If I were Intel facing the "solid" DRAM consortium I would figure out where my dollars could do the most good (highest potential volume output) and provide the most leverage (firm is most in need of capital). Hyundai is the answer on both counts.
Watch the solid consortium break up in the weeks ahead. #reply-13783552 pompsander
May 27, 2000 If Hyundai "cracks", others will follow. #reply-13788658 pompsander
June 3, 2000 Hyundai: There appears to be very little press coming out on Hyundai's refinancing. Their situation has significant impact on whether they will break ranks with Micron and Hitachi / NEC, in my opinion. Wish we knew more. #reply-13823675 blake_paterson
Now its June 5 and still no agreement has been announced between Intel and a memory maker. Maybe it's time to take another look at the condition of Hyundai. You would think that with SDRAM prices rising they would be doing better.
Here's some The Korea Herald links that will tell the story:
