Integrated, Scalable Electronic Storefront Solution Available From J.D. Edwards
OneWorld/WebSphere Commerce Suite Delivers Key Component for B2B and B2C
Customer Relationship Management
DENVER, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC), a leading provider of business-to-business solutions for the extended enterprise, and IBM today announced the general availability of the OneWorld Adapter for IBM MQSeries*. The co-developed solution provides a tight integration between J.D. Edwards OneWorld(TM) B2B software and IBM's WebSphere* Commerce Suite (WCS) using IBM's Commerce Integrator* Server and MQSeries for reliable, high performance messaging. The complete end-to-end storefront solution for OneWorld also takes advantage of extensible mark-up language (XML) for open, robust data exchange, providing a framework for future e-business integration.
"Key to our success in the digital marketplace is the ability to tightly integrate our storefront with our extended enterprise foundation, allowing us to more efficiently and effectively serve our customers. This is why we have selected the OneWorld and WebSphere Commerce Suite solution, because it gives us scalable B2B software, seamlessly integrated into the storefront. Plus, we know the joint solution is scalable enough to handle the high volume of customer orders and transactions that we receive daily," said Arun C. Yarlagadda, co-founder and CTO at 1StopMD(TM), an e-business that aggregates purchases for physicians in the health care industry including medical and office products. 1StopMD is an early adopter of the OneWorld and WebSphere Commerce Suite.
The integration allows sales orders to be placed via the Internet, allows a customer to track orders, and updates changes in inventory quantities, pricing and customer information. J.D. Edwards and IBM are jointly developing additional integration. Customers are also provided tools that will allow them to quickly create their own custom integrations.
"J.D. Edwards, in conjunction with IBM, has developed an out-of-the-box e-commerce solution for customers to create world-class storefronts using WebSphere Commerce Suite, seamlessly integrated with OneWorld," said Michael Schmitt, J.D. Edwards' senior vice president, B2B E-commerce. "We believe that by combining agile, component-based OneWorld technology with the reliable, high-performance WebSphere technology, we offer our customers one of the most comprehensive and scalable storefront options available today."
"As companies develop more sophisticated e-commerce initiatives, it is important to provide a dynamic interface between the e-commerce storefront and back office and supply chain systems," said Rob Lamb, director for MQSeries, IBM. "This new offering from J.D. Edwards and IBM will help businesses utilize an end-to-end e-commerce solution that will help reduce overhead costs by improving workflow efficiency related to order processing and inventory tracking."
IBM has established "WebStart J.D.Edwards", a 90-day structured implementation of IBM's WebSphere Commerce Suite for J.D. Edwards customers. This offering leverages the strength of IBM's 1,000 person J.D. Edwards Practice and the efficiency of IBM's WebSphere Commerce Suite Implementation Factory to provide rapid implementation at low cost. The implementation approach utilizes IBM Global Services e-business methodology, an approach proven successful by a number of J.D.Edwards' customers. The offering includes not only WebSphere Commerce Suite implementation but also integration with J.D.Edwards Enterprise Systems Software. Additional information can be obtained via the Internet at www.ibm.com/erp/jdedwards.
The OneWorld and WebSphere Commcere Suite solution is generally available for companies beginning June 1, 2000. J.D. Edwards will sell and support the entire OneWorld and WebSphere Commerce Suite solution, including both IBM and J.D. Edwards software. The integrated storefront extends and enhances J.D. Edwards' ActivEra(TM) Solutions for customer relationship management, Active CRM.
