<That's not the way I read this article>

I think it's the same thing:

< as government officials push for the early implementation of third-generation (3G) cellular networks on the mainland>

I believe this is still CDMA, it just hasn't been decided 'what type' of CDMA.

<abandoning plans for a nationwide cdmaOne network with initial capacity for 10 million subscribers by the end of 2000.">

CdmaOne is the 'top of the line' QCOM CDMA... and would probably have used more IP protected QCOM features [this is my poor lingo here], 3G is still going to be CDMA as far as I know.

The whole thing is confusing and gotten out of hand, the BIG thing for QCOM [IMO] is what does 3G turn out to be.
