You do not understand the dynamics of the situation, GSM has won nothing. The chinese simply decided to wait for the more advanced version which will be available next year rather then building the existing system today. Its like waiting for windows 2000 because you know its coming in 6 months, rather then upgrading your network now. It is actually quite bullish that they stated they will use CDMA 2000 instead of WCDMA(Cdma2000 is its standard whille WCDMA is European STandard). There will now be CDMA2000 networks in most of Asia and parts of America within 18 months. Meanwhille WCDMA
wont be here for at least 2-3 years. The fact that Unicom chose to use GSM was because they ALREADY have a GSM network. They will now put patches on until CDMA2000 is ready. Frankly nO analysts had Qcom china revenues in Models which predict 1.40 2001 earnings. That puts Qcom at arround a 40 forward PE. The fact is Qcom will make 3-5% on every Wireless CDMA(anyform)devise, which should be over a Billion handsets(not even counting NON phone devices). This escapes most bears on Qcom. I am bearish on the market overall, if I wasnt I would load the truck. There is no BETTER technology company for the next 5 years, that I know of.
