Dell International Plans Indian Unit in Bangalore, BS Reports
Chennai, India, June 5 (Bloomberg) -- Dell International, Inc., a unit of the world's second-largest personal computer manufacturer, plans to set up a fully owned subsidiary in Bangalore, a city in South India, the Business Standard reported, citing a company spokesman. The official said Dell had applied to the Indian government for a permit to bring in the required foreign investment. The investment would be about $23 million, the paper said, citing a government official it didn't name.
Dell's plan to set up base in India is part of the company's initiative to focus on the Asia Pacific region, which is the fastest growing market for the company.
