Agree 100% with that statement. It MUST be why you were made the King of France.

Rande Spiegelman, RandeSpiegelman@bigfoot.com, often quoted in the Wall Street Journal and other fine publications, sent me this bit of information this AM:

---------------------------------------------------
scare-talk about the "17-year secular bear market" from
1966-1982 ignores some facts as well, such as the actual average annual returns:

Rolling 15-year periods:

1966-80 Large Cap 6.71% Small Cap 14.09%
1967-81 Large Cap 7.11% Small Cap 15.64%
1968-82 Large Cap 6.96% Small Cap 12.89%

A 70/30 mix of large/small (approx. W5000) would have returned about 9.7% for the 1967-1981 period.

20-year periods:

1963-82 Large Cap 8.3% Small Cap 16.92%
1966-85 Large Cap 8.66% Small Cap 15.25%
1967-86 Large Cap 10.17% Small Cap 16.06%

Right before the 73-74 bear:
1972-1991 Large Cap 11.89% Small Cap 14.58%

If that's as bad as it gets (except for the Great depression), then where's the beef?
---------------------------------------------------
Interesting to know the "facts", eh?
