AXCESS Releases LANplayer for Universal Video Playback of Recorded CCTV on the Network
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2000--AXCESS Inc. (Nasdaq:AXSI - news) released today a standalone playback software for its LAN-based digital video recording product which provides flexible playback of digital video files from anywhere on the network.

LANplayer(TM) is designed to reside on any PC where the viewing of recorded files is desirable, making access to recorded CCTV simple and easy enterprise-wide. The product complements the company's LANcorder(TM) product announced in March, which multiplexes up to 16 cameras and records CCTV digitally over a network.

The player can playback recorded video files from a LANcorder(TM) residing anywhere on the LAN, thus enabling the ultimate in flexibility through distributed recording and playback. The software minimizes ``seat time'' in video searches via a simple calendar basis time and date search capability. It de-muxes the recorded video from the LANplayer(TM) to display a single camera video stream. LANplayer(TM) has an easy self-install routine for populating the player capability.

The LANcorder(TM) and LANplayer(TM) combination surpasses traditional time lapse recorders or VCRs by eliminating tape head cleaning or tape administration while also offering remote programming, instant time/date search, simultaneous recording/playback, and remote viewing over the LAN network or Internet. Files are available in standard Windows .avi format so they can be e-mailed as simple attachments. The product surpasses other digital video recorders on the market by recording from two to ten times more video per megabyte of digital storage capacity. Uniquely, the product can be purchased as a system or as software-only, running on a customer provided Microsoft Windows PC.

``The distributed architecture here is revolutionary for corporate video recording. The recorder and player no longer need to reside with the cameras. Indeed, the recorder can be stored in a separate facility and, by using the Internet, it allows users to gather video from multiple cameras from their desktop PCs throughout the enterprise. This provides easy and immediate access to video files from anywhere in the corporation,'' commented Ben Donohue, Director of Video products for AXCESS Inc.

In addition to the Prism Video line of products, AXCESS' ActiveTag(TM) RFID product provides automatic identification solutions to the corporation for improving asset utilization enterprise-wide. More information on all AXCESS Inc. products is available on the company's web site www.axcessinc.com.

AXCESS Inc., headquartered in Dallas, provides network-based system solutions to the enterprise using patented technologies in wireless, automatic identification and multi-media for improving operations productivity, physical security, asset and inventory management, and ERP. Products include hands-free, long range RFID (radio frequency identification) technology used to track and monitor people, assets, inventory and vehicles as well as patented digital video compression technology for enterprise multi-media transmission and digital recording.
