(Nasdaq: CMGI), today announced that MSN has selected AltaVista Search technologies to provide full-text search functionality for double-byte languages throughout Asian countries, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
AltaVista's search technology will offer customers fast, relevant search results across more than 30 languages including double-byte languages such as Chinese, Japanese and Korean, enabling global companies such as Microsoft to handle nearly any information type. As the only scalable search technology able to support Asian languages, AltaVista will provide searchers with results in their native languages with access to more than 350 million Web pages, one of the largest indices of the Internet.
