Hi, Mike - I cannot substantiate this with links, but I got the impression, from my research, that the Japanese adoption of CDMA was the only immediate, and palatable solution to their overloaded networks.

I didn't investigate the remarks that I read, but took them at face value.

I'm really not up on the Japanese situation, except that it appears to be a different set of circumstances than elsewhere, in the sense that migration/buildout options are limited.

It would surprise me to see anything related to TDMA coming from Japan, but again, I'm weak on their infrastructure.
