CFO Stephen K. Workman on Radio Wall Street:

radiowallstreet.com./NASApp/RWS/EventPage?ID=22274

My notes on the broadcast (only 12 minutes in duration):

The optical sub-system portion of revenues grew by 120% last year. This portion is 66% - 75% of revenues. The test instrument grew at a 43% rate (this portion is the remaining 25% - 33%).

The company is excited about the 2 new markets (Cable TV and Opticity). The Cable TV market is expected to offer a $1 Billion plus market, plus additional opportunities overseas. The Opticity market is for the metropolitan areas, where laying additional fiber is cost prohibitive (going between Chicago & NYC is more expensive to lay fiber than wiring Dallas alone; wiring 1 individual city is less expensive due to the area to be wired is less).

These 2 new products should start appearing in the May/June/July period, and ramping thereafter.

The Opticity product is a "wild card", and could be "very big". (Mr. Workman gave an example of the product's current placement in Korea, and the impact of larger orders.)

The competitors are: 1) Agilent, and 2) IBM. The company has never lost a "bakeoff" based upon quality. (MY WORDS: I find this difficult to believe, but that's what he said!) Finisar has "won competitive bakeoffs". The company has won each bakeoff, which is determined by product quality. The quality of product separates the company from the competition.

His final note to investors:

1) The company is in the midst of high growth areas.
2) The company excels amongst the competition.
3) Watch for the top-line growth.
4) Watch for announcements in the above mentioned markets.

I was impressed with Mr. Workman's knowledge of the industry and the company specifics. He is a lot more than a finance guy! Must listen for shareholders.

I had trouble accessing the site to listen to it (as it said that the code had expired). Let me know if this happens to you. I can tell you what I did to get around it.

Have a good day,
