A couple of thoughts:

First, note that Niles, while being very good at estimating earnings and revenues, has not been very good at picking stocks. That, IMO, is one of the big reasons why he's decided to go so far out on a limb with Intel. If he's right, he makes a move to the upper echelon of analysts; he not only is good with numbers, but he'd also have a rep as being good with market instincts. With such a high target that is appreciably ahead of others, he could make people forget his past missteps in stock picking pretty quickly.

Second, I am starting to wonder what it would take for Intel to finally take Rambus out and shoot it. I'm just an indifferent and uninformed third party in this thing, but it seems to me that Rambus has caused Intel much more harm than good. It didn't take much for Intel to take the Ft. Worth plant to pasture, I would think that they're close with Rambus.
