THe only access to the attic is through a trap door in a closet in the guest room, which stays closed off.
We are very casual about doors being left open, especially to the garage and from the sunroom to the deck, I guess it could have come in through the garage. I can't imagine a cat would have caught it and dragged it in. They were nowhere to be seen through all the excitement.
