Samsung, Hyundai Notch Up Chip Prices
June 6, 2000 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Hyundai Electronic Industries Co., Ltd. said they will notch up the price of chips supplied to their main customers.

The move is in hand with the recent jump in overall chip value. Samsung said it will raise the value of chips by 5 percent to 10 percent after negotiations with its major clients. Hyundai Electronics added that it will supply chips to buyers at slightly higher prices.

As PC consumption is on continuous rise, demand for DRAMs is expected to surpass supply, and the world's chip makers are expected to reap high profits.
